There are not many records for the personal events during Saint Ephraim’s time. It is because of that reason why it is hard to determine if they used any form of rattan patio furniture or any type of furniture outdoors. The majority of the records known show that no such furniture from this time period was used outside of the house. The furniture in the house was very primitive as well considering today’s furniture.Saint Ephraim the Syrian was born in 306 in the city of Nisbis. He was considered a rebel during his youth and found himself in trouble with the law and in jail for the accusation of stealing a sheep. It was found however that he in fact was innocent and did not steal the sheep. The judge let him out of jail after a period of a few days to weeks in jail. It was at this time that Ephraim decided to turn his life over to God. It is not really known what type of rattan patio furniture they sat on while outdoors. Most accounts of outdoors sitting was on nearby rocks or tree stumps.
Saint Ephraim was very influential during his period and even more after his death in 373 from an unknown illness. He is said to have written over 3,000,000 lines with his works of many poems, hymns, and sermons. There are only around 400 of his written works available today because a lot are unable to be translated or lost. While many sit and learn about Ephraim they may sit and enjoy a brief quiet period with nature outside on some Rattan patio furniture. Others tend to like learning in the classroom setting. Whichever setting is for you it is important to understand how influential Saint Ephraim was.
