Saint Ephraim the Syrian was born in the year 306 AD in Nisbis. He is worshiped by Christians around the world and more so in the Syriac Orthodox Church, as one of their saints. Seeing as he was very influential with his poems, hymns and sermons many experienced anxiety symptoms with his status in the church. It can be very intimidating to think back on all the work and accomplishments he has had over the years he was alive. It is stated that over 400 different hymns were written and composed by Ephraim.
When many look back on Ephraim’s life and understand the process of his sainthood, it can be very intimidating. Shortly after his death many accounts of his life began to go around the world. The one legend of his life was that he was a monk. However this depiction was put to rest and stated to be UN true. He was believed to take many legendary journeys. One of these journeys was when he visited the Basil of Caesarea.
One of the biggest reasons for the anxiety symptoms about Ephraim is that there is an important like to Ephraim’s life in the baptistery of Nisbis. Both of his parents were a part of a very large and growing Christian community. In 337 Emperor Constantine I legalized and promoted the practicing of the Christian faith.
